Grab a pack of the Gingerbread Man 6″ Cut-Outs for a couple of easy activities to do in the classroom during this holiday season! Visit Inspired In Style all month for more winter activities and projects.
Teach students about symmetry with this quick activity. Cut one of the Gingerbread Cut-Outs in half vertically so that only one side of the body remains. Attach the halved gingerbread men to a sheet of paper. (If you want to save your cut-outs, you can use both sides for different students)
On the sheet of paper print:
Definition: The property of sameness or corresponding on both sides of a central dividing line.
Draw the other half of the gingerbread man to show symmetry.
Instruct students to draw in the other half of the gingerbread man’s body. Use these sheets to create a holiday bulletin board to show students work. Add more holiday spirit by using one of the holiday paper prints, Holiday Dots or Holiday Stripes!
Using the same Gingerbread Cut-Outs as above and the Fancy Black 4″ Designer Letters, create number mats on a colorful sheet of construction paper (or the holiday printer paper). Provide students with peppermint candies (we used soft peppermint puffs) to place the correct number of buttons on the gingerbread man’s vest.
