Are you bored with some of your classroom decor and looking for something to liven up the space? Create a playful classroom experience for students by creating eye catching mobiles that match your current theme or color combination. You can do a full rainbow as shown below, mix and match color combinations, or show off the popular collections like Painted Palette, Chalk It Up!, Dots on Turquoise, and BW!
HERE ARE THE STEPS!
STEP 1: Starting with the back side of the first color, use a ruler to make a mark at 8.5”. Cut a straight line since this will be your template.
STEP 2: Using the template, mark out all of the borders to be cut. You do not need to leave space between each of the border pieces.
STEP 3: Cut all of your template pieces until you have enough to make your mobiles. You will need an even number of pieces since they will end up back to back (in the same color).
STEP 4: Starting with one piece of the first color of border, tape the string to the top and bottom of the midpoint (4.25”) of the backside. Rubber cement the back of the piece, and sandwich the two pieces together with the string in the middle.
STEP 5: Repeat Step 4 with all of the colors. Be sure to leave a 1” space between the colors.
STEP 6: On the last piece, repeat the same process as Step 4, but this time cut the string and tie a knot so that it will not slip out from the tape.
STEP 7: Once all of the pieces are tied together on the string, go back through and trim any white edges where the overlap may not line up perfectly.
Now you are all done!!!
