New Year’s Day Activity

We all know how hard it is to come back after our Christmas break! :)   That first day back, I would spend some time talking to my students about New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.   I wanted them to understand what and why we were celebrating.  My activities  and lessons for that day usually revolved around celebrating the new year.  To get back into the swing of things, I always liked to do a fun art project with my students.  It’s definitely a relaxing way to start the new week!

Your students may have heard about New Year’s resolutions before they came back to school.  I would spend some time talking to my kids about what that means AND have a discussion about their own resolutions for the new year.  This will get them super excited about the activity they are about to do!

Next, you can tell your students that they are going to create themselves in their fanciest party attire using CTP’s 10 inch multicultural people.  Your students will LOVE this!  You will also need to explain that they will be using a speech bubble to write their own resolution for everyone to see!

I purchased sparkly scrapbook paper, glitter, poms, and lots of fun things to make their fancy shmancy New Year’s Eve clothing!

Give them some time and let them be creative!

When they are finished, you will have the most adorable bulletin board to display!

Happy New Year!

For this fun project, I used  the following items:

10 inch multicultural people #6243

6243 multicultural people

6 inch speech bubble cut outs #3879

  2. So cute! I use the kids pictures and the same bubbles, laminated with a overhead marker, so they are reusable year after year. :)
