The Creative Teaching Press calendar cut-outs have so many uses besides the calendar! As a teacher, these were always a staple in my classroom. In addition to having multiple uses, I love how they have different colors on each side of the cut-out. This makes them perfect for games and patterning activities!
I used the Apple Two-Color Calendar Cut-Outs this month to create a fun activity for my daughter. She is still learning the alphabet and letter matching is a great activity for alphabet recognition.
I used the red side of the apple to write uppercase letters and the green side to write lowercase letters, then stored them in a cute apple bushel basket! My daughter had so much fun finding the match for each letter in the alphabet! This would also make a great center activity for preschool or Kindergarten students!
In addition to making games and fun center activities, I used the apple cut-outs to make cute “Read Around the Room” sticks!
“Read Around the Room” was one of my favorite center activities in my Kindergarten and first grade classroom. It was such an easy center to prepare! To keep my student’s excited about this center, I would create my reading sticks to coordinate with the seasons. Calendar cut-outs or seasonal 6 inch cut-outs from Creative Teaching Press were the perfect accessory for my “Read Around the Room” center!
You can purchase inexpensive dowels on Amazon or at a craft supply or a home improvement store. Next, tape an apple cut-out to the top of the dowel. Lastly, you can embellish your sticks with coordinating crinkle tie.
You’ve just created a fun “Read Around the Room” stick that your students will be so excited to use in the classroom!
Each month, you can purchase a new package of calendar cut-outs that correlate with each month to tape to your dowels. Kids love it when you change things up a bit. Just adding a new cut-out gets your students excited about reading! The “Read Around the Room” center now has the feeling of being brand new with a simple and easy change!
